12 slices Swiss cheese (cut in half if needed to fit)
½ lb thinly sliced corned beef or pastrami
1 cup sauerkraut, drained and squeezed dry
 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp caraway seeds (optional, for a rye flavor)
1 tsp garlic powder (optional, for topping)
For the Russian Dressing
 ½ cup mayonnaise
 2 tbsp ketchup
 1 tbsp prepared horseradish
 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice
1 tbsp finely chopped pickles or pickle relish
 Salt & pepper to taste

    • Remaining Swiss cheese

  3. Place the top half of the buns on top.

Top and Bake

  2. Sprinkle with caraway seeds and/or garlic powder if using.

  3. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes.

  4. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and tops are golden.

Serve

  • Serve warm, with extra dressing on the side for dipping.
