This dish combines juicy, caramelized pears roasted in the oven with fragrant thyme and honey, then finished with a cool dollop of whipped mascarpone cream. It’s simple, refined, and lets seasonal fruit truly shine—with just enough indulgence to feel special.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly butter or oil a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
Place the pear halves cut-side up in the dish.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, honey, thyme leaves, and a pinch of salt.
Brush or spoon the mixture generously over the pears.
Add thyme sprigs to the pan and, if using, a splash of white wine or apple cider to the bottom.
Roast in the oven for 25–30 minutes, basting once or twice, until the pears are tender and slightly golden at the edges.
They should be soft enough to cut with a spoon but still hold their shape.
While the pears roast, whisk together the mascarpone, cream, powdered sugar, vanilla, and optional citrus zest until smooth and lightly whipped.
Chill until ready to serve.
Transfer warm pears to plates or shallow bowls.
Add a generous spoonful of mascarpone cream beside or over each pear.
Drizzle with a bit more honey, sprinkle with fresh thyme or chopped nuts, and serve immediately.
Use pears that are ripe but still firm—too soft and they’ll collapse while roasting.
For a deeper flavor, substitute maple syrup or brown butter for the honey.
Add a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom to the roasting mix for a spiced version.
Serve with: Crushed pistachios or almonds, shortbread cookies, or spiced granola
Drink with: Dessert wine (e.g. Moscato, Sauternes) or herbal tea
